The Campbelltown Health and Education Precinct (CHEP) forms part of Western Sydney’s complementary network of health and education precincts.

Located in the heart of Campbelltown city centre, the CHEP benefits from the significant economic activity in the area and provides support to the wider Macarthur area.

Currently home to more than 180,000 people, Campbelltown’s population is expected to grow to almost 250,000 by 2041, while the Macarthur region more broadly, is estimated to reach 615,000 in the same timeframe.

The CHEP collaboration was created to ensure that the region is well equipped for the residents who currently do, and will, call Campbelltown home.

The CHEP is underpinned by a strong partnership spanning three levels of government, universities, TAFE NSW, research institutions, health and education providers. Partners are united by the CHEP vision to become an integrated health, research and education precinct at Campbelltown, delivering world class research, innovation and improved health outcomes for the Macarthur region and wider community.

There are more than 800 businesses in the Health Care and Social Assistance sector in the Campbelltown LGA, which contributed $775.6m (gross valued added) to the local economy in 2020/21. This sector has grown $246.5m (46.6%) since 2015/16.
